I have several favorite purses, several favorite cakes, and many favorite cheeses.  So why would I choose one favorite barbecue sauce?

Well, I wouldn't.  I love experimenting with different flavors and coming up with different sauces for different dishes.

Chad has been asking for barbecue and I have been loving cooking with Jack Daniels.

So I put the two together and created a fabulously scrumptious barbecue sauce with a deep smoky flavor and a little kick courtesy of the chile pepper paste.

The sauce is perfectly sweet and so good it will be devoured. What is the measure of a successful sauce? It is good on pulled pork, burgers, chicken, onion rings and fries.

We also found it to be great on nachos and perfect just eaten off a spoon.  Do you think we liked it?  We LOVE it!  What is your favorite thing to put BBQ sauce on?

Helpful Tips to make Jack Daniels Double Kick Barbecue Sauce:

  • Why New Mexico Chile Powder? It has a deep dark reddish brown color and features an earthy, sweet flavor and subtle, spicy heat. It is mildly hot and absolutely perfect in this sauce. It creates a truly authentic flavor! New Mexico Chili Powder can be found in the international aisle in the bulk bags or on Amazon.  if you are afraid the heat will be too much you can use half New Mexico Chili Powder and 1/2 regular chili powder.

What you will need to make Jack Daniels Double Kick Barbecue Sauce:

  • Large Sauce Pan-
  • New Mexico Chile Powder - This is one of my favorite spices. See the notes above.
  • Whisk- I love these whisks. I have had them for 10 years an they are still perfect and still perfect for every whisking job.

Enjoy!

With love from our simple kitchen to yours.

Macaroni and cheese has to be the #1 comfort food. Not only that, it's a simple go-to dish.

It is our favorite. Anytime you ask my 4 year old what she wants for dinner, it's mac and cheese with bacon!

Well that makes 3 of us, because with all the ooey gooey cheese, I could certainly eat it every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it.

Needless to say, I have a lot of unbelievable twists for the traditional macaroni and cheese recipe.

I am especially proud of this most recent creation - Jack Daniel's Smoky Mac and Cheese with Bacon.

This meal is ready to eat in just 30 minutes, and I know you are going to love it!

Dinner's ready!

It's unlike any cheesy pasta you have ever eaten.

Cooking with Jack Daniels Whiskey

Jack Daniels whiskey cooks down to leave the perfect smokiness, some maple, and a hint of woodsiness to recipes and to me that meant it would be perfect with bacon!!

After creating bbq saucepork chopsgrill saucepulled pork, a surprising fudgy brownie and cocktail after cocktail with Jack Daniels, I knew I wanted to use it in the best comfort food ever.

Ingredients

Oodles of ooey gooey cheese, 12 ounces of hickory smoked peppered bacon and a collection of spices that will wake up your taste buds and leave you completely satisfied makes this the best mac and cheese of your life.

Here's what you'll need to make it:
  • hickory smoked peppered bacon, uncooked
  • unsalted butter
  • Jack Daniels whiskey
  • chicken broth (or stock)
  • all-purpose flour
  • smoked paprika
  • garlic powder
  • New Mexico chili powder
  • chili pepper paste
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • milk (I use whole milk)
  • extra-sharp cheddar (white), shredded
  • smoked provolone cheese, shredded

Smoky Mac and Cheese Recipe Tips:

  • The recipe may be doubled. Simply use 2 times the ingredients and follow cooking directions. The sauce will thicken as it cools. If the sauce is too thick, add milk, 1/2 cup at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Reheating instructions: Add leftover macaroni and cheese to a pot with milk. Heat until warmed through, adding 1/2 cup of milk at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Freezing instructions: Allow the dish to come to room temperature before freezing. Place in a resealable plastic bag or container.
If using a container, press a small piece of plastic wrap over the top to avoid freezer burn. If frozen, will keep for up to 6 months.

To reheat, thaw pasta and follow reheating instructions.
  • Alcohol substitutions: You can substitute another liquid for the whiskey. Beer, bourbon or chicken broth would be best.

Tools for Making Bacon Mac and Cheese:

  • 8 Quart Pot
  • 12" Skillet-
  • Cheese Grater- As much as I love buying shredded cheese because I'm lazy, fresh grated cheese melts down so much better and creates a smoother soup.

Enjoy!

Pork chops are an old family staple, but I hadn't made them on the grill because I didn't want to serve dry pork chops.  Who does, right?

After figuring out the perfect preparation and cooking method I am happy to tell you that these grilled pork chops are incredibly moist and Chad has declared them his favorite pork chops ever.

That is quite an endorsement!

They are marinated in a fabulous mixture of Jack and spices.  The spices give these pork chops a little heat, but the Jack Daniels adds such an amazing flavor that you really have to try it!

Chad loved them so much he ate these for a week straight and I created a few more recipes using Jack Daniels.  Who would have known that it would give such a fantastic boost to a marinade.

We can't wait to share more pork recipes with you this summer as we celebrate TSRI's Sizzling Summer Celebration packed with lots of grilling, sweet treats and cold eats.

Not to mention fabulous cocktails and a fun travel tour in the USA!

Helpful Tips to make Jack Daniels Double Kick Pork Chops:

  • You can prepare these in a cast iron skillet. Place pork chops in a preheated skillet over medium high heat. Sear on both sides. Place skillet in oven 350°F for 3-5 minutes until cooked through.
  •  You can double the recipe for the marinade and cook half of the sauce until it is thick.   I brush it on the pork chops while they cook over indirect heat and also serve it along side them. You could also prepare this grill sauce. I make the grill sauce by the bucket. It is so good and tastes amazing on everything. We even use it to dip our fries in.
