recipe is the fusion of hot buffalo wings and a burger Spicy Buffalo Chicken Burger

I created this burger for Chad, my awesome husband.  His love of way too spicy hot sauce and buffalo wings coated in said 'burn your face off' hot sauce was the inspiration for this burger.

Right away I knew that the burger needed to be on a pretzel bun; this recipe linked to is a fabulous definition of what a pretzel bun should taste like.

It is firm and pretzely on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside.  What a magical combination!

Now I can't speak much of buffalo wings as they are on my list of things I don't eat.

Maybe my mom dropped me on my head when I was a baby or perhaps I am just weird.

Who knows, but I am going with the latter.

This Buffalo Chicken Burger on the other hand was my perfect opportunity to create my perfect version of Hot Buffalo Chicken wings the way I see them and it was a total success.

I started with spicy chicken sausage to pull in the flavors of the buffalo wings and its also something I can eat.

Then, I added honey and  butter to the hot sauce to sweeten it up and give it a silky finish.  Its just hot enough to make your mouth tingle, the perfect heat to make both of us happy.

Then, I incorporated the blue cheese that is usually served with hot wings and it made for a fantastic combination!

This burger is really simple, but sooooo amazing!  So cancel your dinner plans you are going to want to make this ASAP.  Oh, and don't forget the beer, you are going to LOVE this!

WHERE TO ORDER:

Helpful Tips to make Spicy Buffalo Chicken Burger:

  • Make a slight indentation in the center of the burger to prevent it from doming up in the center. The indentation will rise as your burger cooks.
  • To cut the spiciness, you can substitute mild chicken sausage for the spicy.
  • Do not press down on your burger with a spatula. It will cause the juices to escape and will create a dry burger!

    Spicy Buffalo Chicken Burger

Spicy Chicken Buffalo Chicken Burger recipe is the fusion of hot buffalo wings and a burger. It is truly the best of both worlds. A chicken burger with enough kick to make your taste buds stand at attention. It is served on a soft pretzel roll with bleu cheese, it is a fav and you are going to love it too.

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 3 tablespoons honey
    • 1 pound spicy chicken sausage, casings removed
    • Olive oil
    • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
    • red onion slices
    • 4 pretzel buns (or your favorite bun)

    Instructions

    1. Preheat grill to medium-high.
    2. In a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine the butter and honey.  Once the butter mixture is melted add the buffalo sauce.  Whisk to combine, once mixture is almost boiling (starting to bubble) reduce to simmer until thickened.
    3. Portion and form chicken sausage into patties slightly larger than your bun (4 ounce to serve 4, 8 ounce to serve 2).  Make a slight indentation in the center of the burger to prevent it from doming up in the center. The indentation will rise as your burger cooks.
    4. Grill until golden brown and slightly charred (about 3-5 minutes), turning once (cook for 3 minutes on the other side for medium). Once patty is flipped, liberally brush the hot sauce onto the burger.  After you remove the burger from the heat, brush the other side. Try not to press down on your burger with a spatula. It will cause the juices to escape and will create a dry burger! To assemble burger, place 2 rings of red onion on the bottom bun.  Place the chicken sausage on top.  Make sure chicken sausage patty is well coated in hot sauce.
    5. Add blue cheese to top of burger.
    6. Serve and enjoy!

Helpful Tips to make Honey Balsamic Grilled Chicken:

    • I used the thin sliced chicken breasts for this recipe, but you can also achieve the same thing with regular chicken breasts- just sliced them in half horizontally for the same effect. This recipe would also work beautifully with boneless chicken thighs (can’t lie, my personal favorite).
    • To easily oil the grates. First brush of any remaining food particles. With the grill off, wad up a bunch of paper towels and grab them with grill tongs. Dip the paper towels in oil (to lightly coat) and rub the grill grates until coated. You don't want the grate dripping in oil. That can cause flare ups.

What you will need to make Honey Balsamic Grilled Chicken:

    • Large Bowl- to marinate the chicken.
    • Kitchen Tongs - I love this set of 3. I use every pair of them. They are so handy and grip amazingly well!
    • Grill Tongsuse your favorite ones or grab one of these.
    Enjoy!

    Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs

Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs are such an amazing yet simple recipe you will be making them all year long. Your favorite island flavors all come together with tender beef in a glorious kabob marinade, juicy pineapple and a rainbow of perfectly cooked vegetables all on one kabob. Summer couldn't possibly taste any better than this!
are such an amazing yet simple recipe you will be making them all year long Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs

I get so excited to bring the grill out. I mean live in Arizona and we could probably grill all year long but somehow grilling became stressful this past year so I was a little discouraged. But then I figured it out.

are such an amazing yet simple recipe you will be making them all year long Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs

Everything needs a plan to be successful so I created my grilling plan and put it into action. It really made grilling a total joy again.  I will tell you all my tips for simple grilling in a bit.

I am sure you remember me raving over how badly I want to go to Hawaii to renew my vows for my 10 year anniversary. Well, here we are. This year is my 10th anniversary and all I can think about is Hawaii.

are such an amazing yet simple recipe you will be making them all year long Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs

I haven't planned anything, I am not even sure we are going. But, I just can't get my mind off of it.

And those flavors that I associate with Hawaii keep finding their way into my food too. I mean really... The sweet, tangy fresh flavors are hard to get out of my mind.

Check out more of our favorite Italian flavors here.

Needless to say when we decided to grill up some steak kabobs all of those luscious Hawaiian flavors came to mind and I knew using charcoal would help give these beef kabobs the perfect smokey taste.

are such an amazing yet simple recipe you will be making them all year long Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs

It all starts with a marinade that will knock your socks off. It is sweet, tangy and zesty with a hint of smokiness and oooooh so tasty.

I whipped up my spectacular Hawaiian inspired marinade right in my resealable plastic container and added the beef chunks. Seal, shake and refrigerate.

This makes it so easy. I also prepped all of my veggies and the pineapple the day before. I tossed them into the plastic ware and refrigerated them.

Then we assembled them right we before we grilled. It couldn't be much easier.

are such an amazing yet simple recipe you will be making them all year long Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs

I just couldn't get over the rainbow of colors and the incredible flavor.

The foolproof choice for beef kabobs is sirloin tip. They cook up to a tasty kabob that is amazingly tender.

Basting the beef while it cooks helps to caramelize the marinade and the end result is a most and tender perfectly cooked kabob that will blow your mind!

Helpful Tips to make Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs:

    • Shop it!  Plan ahead and hit the grocery store with a list. Walmart pretty much carries everything and that makes it for easy to throw the perfect barbecue. Buy everything you need at least 2 days before your party.
    • Prepare ahead!  Use containers to store prepped ingredients the day before your party. Those tight fitting lids help prevent a mess and the containers are perfect for marinating. Less work at party time means more time to have fun with your guests.
    • Protect it!  Store unused charcoal in a cool dry place. Storing inside a small empty trashcan with a lid on it will prevent rain and humidity from damaging your briquets and will give you a long shelf life.
    • Time it! Use a digital or phone timer to remind you of when to flip your meat. Most recipes will give you a time window (such as 3-5 minutes). Set your timer to remind you to check it. This can be a meal saver when you are having fun.
    • Double up!  Kabobs built using 2 side-by-side skewers cook more evenly and keep your ingredients from spinning around when you flip them.
    • Clean it!  Wad a piece of aluminum foil into a ball about the size of a navel orange. Hold ball of foil snugly with tongs. Scrape foil back and forth across the hot grill grates removing any debris.

What you will need to make Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs:

    • Wooden Skewers - Perfect for kabobs, whether you are making fruit skewers or meat  and veggie kabobs.
    • Food Storage Containers - Use containers to store prepped ingredients the day before your party. Those tight fitting lids help prevent a mess and the containers are perfect for marinating. Less work at party time means more time to have fun with your guests.

    Enjoy!

prep time: 45 minscook time: 15 minstotal time: 60 mins

    Ingredients

    Marinade

    • 6 ounces pineapple juice
    • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
    • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
    • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon unsulfured molasses
    • 2 teaspoons minced ginger
    • 2 teaspoons minced garlic

    Beef Kabobs

    • 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin tip, cut into 1" pieces
    • 1 red pepper, cut into 1" pieces
    • 1/2 fresh pineapple, cut into 1" chunks
    • 1/4 red onion, cut into 1" pieces
    • 1 zucchini, cut into 1/4 - 1/2" thick coins
    • extra cooking oil for preparing grill grates

    Instructions

    1. Soak 12 wood skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.
    2. In a medium bowl or resealable container combine marinade ingredients. Whisk until well combined. Reserve 1 cup marinade.
    3. Add beef to remaining marinade in bowl. Toss to coat. Cover and marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes. If marinating longer be sure to refrigerate.
    4. Meanwhile, add reserved 1 cup marinade to a small saucepan and cook on medium high, stirring occasionally,  until reduced by half (you can skip this step but I love the thick coating of sauce on the beef).
    5. Prep pineapple and veggies.
    6. Preheat grill to high. Layer beef and veggies on skewers. Use 2 skewers about 1/4" apart for each kabob. I start the kabob and end the kabob with beef. But you can do it any way you like. Layer them so the ingredients are touching but not smashed together. Divide the ingredients out over 6 skewers.
    7. Wad paper towels into a ball and hold with tongs. Dip into a bowl of cooking oil. Rub paper towel over the hot grill grates to thoroughly coat them.
    8. Grill kabobs for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Brush with reserved marinade when you place them on the grill and each time your turn the kabobs. Remove from grill and serve.

    DONNA'S NOTES

    1. If you are traveling or preparing ahead, you can prep veggies and meat with marinade the night before and store in containers. Assemble when you get to your destination.
    2. Don't skimp on the beef. Sirloin tips are the perfect cut for this recipe.
    3. You can marinate for up to 24 hours.

I was looking for the ultimate grilling creation to make for Chad (it is his birthday this week).  I knew it had to be bold and passionate (like me).  It had to be big, flavorful and loaded with cheese and bacon. I knew a burger would be perfect for this occasion.  I have to search for the exact words to describe this burger...  Maybe love.  Can you feel love for a burger?  Well if you can this is the burger.

Chad looked like a kid on Christmas morning when he saw this burger.  Once he took his first bite, his eyes rolled back in his head and the air was filled with mmmmm's.  I love that sound!  Needless to say this burger is a member of the clean plate club.  Not even a drip of cheese was left on the plate.  He licked it clean!

Did you take a REALLY GOOD LOOK at this tantalizing burger???  Go ahead, I'll wait.  8 ounces of ground chuck perfectly spiced with chipotle chile pepper.  It is served over a bed of sweet and spicy TSRI's Signature Barbecue Sauce.  A heaping scoop of luscious Beer Cheddar Cheese Sauce is poured over top, with 4 bacon strips all on a toasted ciabatta roll.  This is the definition of burger heaven.  Purely decadent and delicious.  Chad has requested this for his birthday dinner too.

Helpful Tips to make Barbecue Bacon Cheddar Smokehouse Burger:

    • 80/20 beef makes for the best burgers!
    • Mix until just combined. Overmixing will create a tough burger and that isn't good for anyone.
    • Make a slight indentation in the center of the burger on one side to prevent it from doming up in the center. The indentation will rise as your burger cooks.
    • Preheat your grill to medium or medium high.
    • Resist the temptation to press down on the burger with a spatula. It doesn't make them cook faster, it just presses out the juices and all the flavor, leaving you with a dry burger. Again, no one wants that!

Well, I wouldn't.  I love experimenting with different flavors and coming up with different sauces for different dishes.

Chad has been asking for barbecue and I have been loving cooking with Jack Daniels.

So I put the two together and created a fabulously scrumptious barbecue sauce with a deep smoky flavor and a little kick courtesy of the chile pepper paste.

Helpful Tips to make Jack Daniels Double Kick Barbecue Sauce:

    • Why New Mexico Chile Powder? It has a deep dark reddish brown color and features an earthy, sweet flavor and subtle, spicy heat. It is mildly hot and absolutely perfect in this sauce. It creates a truly authentic flavor! New Mexico Chili Powder can be found in the international aisle in the bulk bags or on Amazon.  if you are afraid the heat will be too much you can use half New Mexico Chili Powder and 1/2 regular chili powder.

    • New Mexico Chile Powder - This is one of my favorite spices. See the notes above.
