Burgers are always a crowd pleaser during the summer. And pork and apples are one of my favorite combinations!

When I was trying to think of the perfect new slider, the vision of a sausage summer slider with pork, barbecue sauce and sweet and tangy apple slaw was born.

It is absolutely amazing. Every bite is an explosion of flavor!

What is the best sausage to use in Sausage Summer Sliders?

You really want to start with a sausage patty that has fantastic flavor and one that is good enough to stand on its own.

Jones Dairy Farm sausage is absolutely amazing! With big bold flavors packed into a little patty these all-natural sausages are incredibly versatile and can be used for any meal breakfast, lunch or dinner.

They are fully cooked and contain no nitrates or nitrites, no preservatives, and no MSG. And they are made with just five ingredients: pork, water, salt, spices and sugar!

What kind of buns do you use with sliders?

The type of bun that you use with a slider really depends on what kind of slider you are serving and what the toppings are. If you are serving a really saucy Chicken Parmesan Slider, a soft toasted Hawaiian bread, or a firmer ciabatta is the perfect match.

With a soft and tender Cheesy Sausage and Egg Breakfast Sliders a sweet Hawaiian roll was again the perfect match.

For this Sausage Summer Slider with bbq sauce and crispy slaw topping we opted for a brioche dinner roll that was perfectly sized for our sausage patties!

Helpful Tips to make Sausage Summer Sliders:

  • Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Golden Brown® Pork sausage patties add tremendous flavor to this recipe but you can easily form your own patties with their pork breakfast sausage roll. Visit the product locator on the Jones Dairy Farm website to find their products at a store near you.
  • You can make these ahead and keep them tented with aluminum foil in a disposable pan for the perfect tail gating meal!
  • If you prefer you can use thinly sliced green cabbage and julienned carrots in place of the cole slaw mix.

What you will need to make Sausage Summer Sliders:

    • Mandoline slicer - This slicer is perfect for making easy work of uniform fruit or vegetable slices. I must have bought and returned 6 mandoline slicers before this one.  This one, I have had for 7 years and I still love it.
    • Cutting Board- A big good solid cutting board so you can prep all your veggies on one surface.  I use my cutting board daily so it’s worth the investment.
    • Quality Knives- Quality knives make prep time much quicker and are important for safety as well.  If you make one kitchen investment, I believe it should be in quality knives.

    Enjoy!

With love from our simple kitchen to yours.

with sweet dinner rolls toasted with garlic butter and topped with Parmesan cheese Chicken Parmesan Sliders + VIDEO

I love the holiday season, love parties and love love love game day parties.

Although I used to be the gal to spend all day in the kitchen and have a few of my besties over to help before the party, simple is now my middle name.

I love little time savers in the kitchen.  When I can find time savers for a party its a double bonus.  Less time in the kitchen means more time to spend with my friends.

One thing I dislike about sliders is dealing with all the buns.  Making everything individually tends to get a bit messy.

With dinner rolls I can make 12 sliders at once and then cut them when I am ready to serve them.  That my friends is delicious convenience.  Gotta love it.

Our sweet dinner rolls are toasted with garlic butter and topped with Parmesan cheese.  Slices of pan fried chicken, marinara sauce and piles of mozzarella cheese top this picture perfect slider.

It is heavenly and party ready!

Helpful Tips to make Chicken Parmesan Sliders:

    • Need a crazy fun and easy shortcut? Try using chicken nuggets. It works and they are fabulous. You can get the ones from the freezer section and fry them on your stovetop for a perfectly crisp chicken component.

What you will need to make Chicken Parmesan Sliders:

    • Baking Sheet-  used for everything from cookies to roasting, a good baking pan will last for years.
    • Large Skillet- I have had this pan since 2006. It is my go-to large skillet. It heats evenly and quickly. The stainless steel cleans up beautifully with a little baking soda so they still look brand new.

    Enjoy!

With love from our simple kitchen to yours.

    Chicken Parmesan Sliders

Chicken Parmesan Sliders are sweet dinner rolls toasted with garlic butter and topped with Parmesan cheese. Slices of pan-fried chicken, marinara sauce and piles of mozzarella cheese top this picture perfect slider. It is a simple recipe that is absolutely heavenly and party-ready!

    Ingredients

    • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
    • 3 chicken breasts (1 ½ pounds total), cut into twelve 1/2-inch steaks
    • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 2 teaspoons fresh cracked black pepper
    • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 3 ounces grated fresh parmesan cheese
    • 3/4 cup marinara sauce
    • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 package Kings Hawaiian Savory Butter Dinner Rolls

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F.   Place rolls on a cutting board, using a serrated knife cut rolls in half lengthwise (without breaking rolls apart).  Open rolls and place tops on one side of a baking sheet and bottoms on the other side cut-side up.
    2. Melt butter in a small microwave-safe bowl, stir in garlic powder.  Brush butter on cut side of bread.  Bake bread for 8-10 minutes until bread is lightly golden brown.
    3. Prepare chicken by slicing the thickest part of the breast about ½” thick.  Cut the thinner part of the breast into pieces slightly larger than the individual rolls.
    4. Meanwhile, warm a large skillet over medium-high heat.  Drizzle with olive oil.  Sprinkle chicken with 1/2 of salt and 1/2 of pepper. Cook until browned, flip and cook until cooked through, about 8 minutes total.
    5. Remove bread from oven.  Carefully remove top halves of rolls and place on a plate.  Set aside.  Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the bottom halves.  Top with cooked chicken pieces.  Drizzle each chicken piece with about 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce and top with mozzarella cheese.  Bake 5 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and melted.
    6. Place top halves back on chicken.  Cut into sliders, serve and enjoy!

Breakfast sausage is such a versatile ingredient that I've used it in quite a few different recipes including these breakfast sliders.

Can I freeze these breakfast sliders?

Yes! One of the easiest ways to save time on a busy morning is by preparing your breakfast the day or weekend before.

Take some time on the weekend and make a batch of these breakfast sliders so you have breakfast all week.

Once the sliders are cooled, place each one (or two) in a freezer bag. They will stay good in the freezer for up to three months this way.

When you want to have one for breakfast, just take it out of the freezer and put it in the oven for a few minutes while you're getting ready for the day.

By the time you're ready to eat, you'll have a hot egg and breakfast sausage slider ready for you to eat.

    Ingredient variations
These breakfast sliders use eggs, breakfast sausage, and cheese. But, you can alter the ingredients if you want to. Why not try breakfast sliders with biscuits instead of Hawaiian dinner rolls.

Or, you can try bagel breakfast sliders if you prefer.  The possibilities are endless.

To change this into a bacon breakfast sliders recipe, you can use regular or turkey bacon in place of the breakfast sausage.

Or, why not try deli ham instead. Change up the type of cheese you use. Or, leave the ingredients out that you don't want to use. It's that versatile and easy to modify.

Are these breakfast sliders just for breakfast?
You can enjoy these breakfast sliders any time you like. They make a great brunch or breakfast for dinner. Or, why not take them as a tailgating or appetizer recipe.

We always get rave reviews when we bring these to events.

What can I serve with breakfast sliders?
If you plan on serving these breakfast sausage sliders for breakfast, they are a complete meal by themselves. But, if you want to add something to your meal, you can slice fresh strawberries.

Or, why not try a bowl of fruit salad. My Best Ever Tropical Fruit Salad would be a delicious choice.

Helpful Tips to make Cheesy Sausage and Egg Breakfast Sliders To make for tailgating use a disposable foil pan or wrap individually in foil and keep warm. Sliders can be prepared a day ahead and popped in the oven before the big game.

If you prefer, you can cut back on the amount of maple syrup you use for a slightly less sweet breakfast slider recipe. Just use the same amount of butter and adjust the syrup as needed.

What you will need to make Cheesy Sausage and Egg Breakfast Sliders
    • A large skillet  –  ideally one that’s more than 12 inches in diameter.
    • 9x13 Baking Dish - I have my favorites and this set is one of them. The 9x13 is perfect for casseroles and the smaller size is awesome for making 1/2 a casserole recipe.

    Enjoy!
