They are the perfect fall treat or holiday dessert.  We love these and are going to be sharing them with our family this year.

After enjoying this fun twist on the classic apple pie, you may never go back! A tender, buttery sweet bread is stuffed with juicy tart apples in a creamy caramel sauce and baked to perfection.

When you bite into one of these heavenly dessert bombs, a river of sweet caramel runs over them, making this a perfectly satisfying, sweet portable treat.

Before Munchkin was born (actually, the year I was pregnant with her), Chad’s mom taught us how to prepare a special family recipe that we have now been making together for years.

Munchkin even gets in on the action and helps.

That recipe starts with stuffing bread dough, and it inspired the invention of all of the scrumptious bomb recipes that we have made.

These explode with flavor and are loaded with ooey-gooey deliciousness.

This bread is super simple, great for a party, and can be prepped ahead of time if you're in a pinch when party planning. It's a great touch on a holiday table as an alternative to traditional rolls.

Crazy Caramel Apple Pie Bombs

Crazy Caramel Apple Pie Bombs are the pull apart bread of your dreams. This fabulous recipe is packed with caramel and apples and baked to perfection. Pull one open and a river of sweet caramel runs over the apple pie bombs.
prep time: 15 minscook time: 30 minstotal time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter, divided
  • 2 medium apples, peeled cored and diced (I used gala)
  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 30 caramels, unwrapped and divided (I use Kraft)
  • All-purpose flour, (for dusting)
  • 12 frozen white dinner roll dough balls, (I used Rhodes)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with 2 tablespoons of the butter and set aside.
  3. Combine the apples, 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar and the cinnamon in a medium bowl and toss to coat. Set aside. Unwrap the caramels and cut 18 of them into quarters. Set aside. Lightly flour your counter top.
  4. Flatten each dough ball into a circle about 3 inches across. You can use a rolling pin or you can pull the dough around the edges like you are making a mini pizza. Add 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture and 6 of the cut caramel pieces.
  5. Carefully pull each side over the center to create a “package,” and then roll the dough into a ball. Be careful to make sure you cannot see through the dough. If you have any tears or can’t seal the dough, tap your fingertips in flour, pinch any tears and roll again.
  6. Place the dough ball in the prepared dish, seam side down. Repeat until all of the apple pie bombs are in the dish. Brush the apple pie bombs with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining 4 tablespoons of brown sugar. Bake the bombs for 30 to 35 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and they are no longer doughy.
  7. Meanwhile, place the remaining 12 caramels and the heavy cream in a microwave safe bowl and microwave until melted, 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each interval. Once you have a smooth mixture, set aside to cool.
  8. Remove the apple pie bombs from the oven and drizzle with the caramel sauce.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

As a matter of fact it is sooo good that my picky 4 year old said to me tonight "Mommy, we should eat dinner before we eat dessert" as she was devouring her creamed corn. Yes that good.

This has consistently been one of our top recipes year after year, so we put together a video for you. You are going to love it!

I know I have mentioned a time or 10 how much I love corn, honestly I love it so much that I when I was younger I would eat a bowl of sweet corn for breakfast.

Well, now I am a bit more practical (most days), but I still love corn just about anyway I can get it.

Whether it is oven roasted, stovetop, grilled, corn casserole, corn salad or this most fabulous slow-cooked creamed corn, I would be happy to eat it every single day.

I have been working on my Best Ever Sides list.  It, of course, includes corn!

So far I have gravy, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, best ever mashed potatoes and garlic rolls (coming this week) and can you believe I didn't have a creamed corn recipe on our website?

Well, we had to remedy that immediately.

You toss 6 ingredients in the slow cooker and voilà a few hours later, you have the most incredible creamed corn you have ever wrapped your lips around.

Cream cheese, milk, cream, butter, and sugar come together to create the most amazing cream sauce for the sweet corn.

After a few short hours, it creates this glorious lightly sweet creamed corn that goes with everything.  This is absolutely NOTHING like the stuff you buy in the can.

This magnificent creation is truly the Best Creamed Corn I have ever eaten in my life!

With side dishes like these, you will have a 5 star Holiday Dinner at home.

Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing (With VIDEO)

Best Stuffing Recipe Ever starts with sausage, cranberry, and apple. Herbs and spices are added in but the real magic happens as the pan is deglazed with the most glorious combination of liquids and those bits are scraped up creating the most magnificent sauce to bake the stuffing in. Oh, my word!
Herbs and spices are added in but the real magic happens as the pan is deglazed with the Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing (With VIDEO)

And of course, if you prefer a more classic slow cooker stuffing, or Bacon Beer Cheese Stuffing, we have got you covered with those recipes too!

Stuffing is the main reason that I look forward to Thanksgiving dinner. It makes me think of home.  My mom made amazing stuffing, mashed potatoes, and corn.

OK, I would have a little turkey too because it was Thanksgiving, but it was always all about the stuffing! I have mentioned I am a carbivore and I love love love stuffing, right?

That is one of the many reasons we are so excited to be partnering with Jones Dairy Farm. They created the coolest stuffing site I have ever seen!

StuffingandMore.com is packed with unique stuffing recipes, stuffing tips, and a fun poll. And of course the RECIPE for this stuffing. You have to check it out!

Herbs and spices are added in but the real magic happens as the pan is deglazed with the Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing (With VIDEO)

I moved away from 'home' before my mom could teach me how to make stuffing.  So I had to do a lot of research when I wanted to make it on my own.

Honestly, it took a lot of trial and error before I perfected my stuffing making.

I can tell you that as good as my mom's stuffing was, it NEVER tasted this good {{sorry mom}}. Just looking at the photos makes my mouth water and that is when you know it has to be good!

Look at those sausage pieces, diced apple, nuts, and cranberries just about jumping off the page. It makes you want to lick your screen, doesn't it?

Herbs and spices are added in but the real magic happens as the pan is deglazed with the Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing (With VIDEO)

The real recipe magic happens as the pan is deglazed with the most glorious liquids and the browned bits are scraped up to create the most magnificent sauce that the stuffing bakes in. Oh, my word!

Chad declared it "The Best Stuffing Ever" and I immediately emailed his aunt (who now hosts Thanksgiving dinner) to tell her we are bringing this fabulous stuffing.

She is elated and I can't wait for the day to get here.  But, really when stuffing is THIS good, you shouldn't have to wait for a holiday. Let's just call this Sunday stuffing.  Maybe we should start a new trend.

Herbs and spices are added in but the real magic happens as the pan is deglazed with the Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing (With VIDEO)

Helpful Tips to make Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing :

  • For those sensitive to alcohol, you can use chicken or stock in place of the wine.
  • You can substitute dried herbs if you are unable to get fresh. Use 1 teaspoon dried herbs for each tablespoon called for. When you are adding the dried herbs, pour them into your hand and crush them in your palm before adding them to the bowl, this will release the oils and increase the potency.
  • You can scoop the stuffing into a slow cooker to keep it warm while you wait for dinner to be served. Add a little chicken stock if it starts to look dry.

What you will need to make Sausage, Cranberry and Apple Stuffing :

  • 9x13 Baking Dish - I have my favorites and this set is one of them. The 9x13 is perfect for casseroles and the smaller size is awesome for making 1/2 a casserole recipe.
  • A large skillet with a lid – A wide skillet works best, ideally one that’s more than 12 inches in diameter.

Enjoy!

Best Ever Mashed Potatoes

The Best Ever Mashed Potatoes are rich, creamy and buttery. Make this potato side dish recipe for dinner tonight!

Make this potato side dish recipe for dinner tonight Best Ever Mashed Potatoes
Growing up my favorite dinners were ones that corn and mashed potatoes were served. Whether it was meatloaf or chicken my picky palate was so happy to see mashed taters and corn on my plate. Well as I grew up my picky palate has become a little more refined but I still can't get enough of mashed potatoes and corn.

Although at Thanksgiving dinner, you will see my plate heavy with stuffing, mashed potatoes and corn, I will take a small piece of turkey.  It is Thanksgiving after all. My daughter takes after me as a carbivore. We have to get really creative to make sure she is getting enough protein. I mean I can't blame her. Look at those potatoes. {{{slurp}}}

Make this potato side dish recipe for dinner tonight Best Ever Mashed Potatoes

We went to KFC drive through the other night because Munchkin and I were feeling under the weather. What do I want when I don't feel good? Taters! And again, Munchkin is exactly like me. Funny thing is, we got home and cracked them open. I started eating my KFC potatoes and Munchkin turned to me and said with the saddest face: I don't like these Mommy. I want your potatoes.

Yes, my heart melted a little. Well, needless to say the next night (as we were both still not feeling well). I had to whip up my Best Ever Mashed Potatoes for us and they did not disappoint!

So, what is so magical about these potatoes? They are thick and creamy mashed potatoes with little chunks of potato through out.

Made with cream cheese, sour cream, heavy cream and butter these potatoes are certainly fit for a special occasion, but are simple enough to be whipped up any night.

A hint of garlic gives these potatoes the perfect flavor and trust me your family will be begging for them again and again.

Tips for the best ever mashed potatoes

  • I prefer my potatoes a little chunky, but mash until you like them. If you prefer them extra fluffy you can use an electric mixer on about half power for about 2 minutes. Then stir and scrape down side and them mix for another minute.
  • To make ahead. Prepare ahead and refrigerate. Place in slow cooker the day you wish to serve 2-4 hours before hand. Add 1/2 cup milk and stir. Cover and stir occasionally.

Simple Cranberry Sauce (With Video)

Cranberry Sauce is a Thanksgiving dinner must and with this simple recipe Simple Cranberry Sauce (With Video)
Growing up, we had Thanksgiving dinner staples. These were dishes that were certain to make an appearance on the table every year. Our Thanksgiving staples were the turkey (of course), stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, creamed corn, dinner rolls and cranberry sauce.

I am sure there was something green too, but I have no recollection of its contribution as I had no intention of eating it. Maybe it was green beans. Growing up I was as picky an eater as they get!

Perhaps preparing Thanksgiving dinner for a large crew was overwhelming or we didn't know the difference, but Mom always bought the canned cranberry sauce and sliced it into coins. I never touched it.

It never looked appetizing. I love cranberries but it never even crossed my mind to put it on my plate. I am pretty sure I thought they were beets for a long time. When I grew up and moved cross-country, I had to start thinking about what I would have at Thanksgiving. Of course, I thought of all those things that were traditional in my family.

I was very excited until I got to the cranberry sauce. I knew I had to do something.

I started with fresh cranberries, sugar, and liquid. And it was divine. I have tried this recipe with cranberry juice, orange juice, water and even white wine. It is so simple and amazing. It is now my family tradition to enjoy my simple cranberry sauce every Thanksgiving, and I hope it will be your new tradition too!

Best Ever Herb Roasted Turkey

Our Herb Roasted Turkey is so moist and flavorful it is the only recipe you will ever need. Nothing beats this buttery herb-infused flavor in your turkey. A simple recipe that you will use again and again. So easy there is no basting required!
is so moist and flavorful it is the only recipe you will ever need Best Ever Herb Roasted Turkey

This is an old favorite recipe that I wanted to share with you. It is from the first year we had this website and the turkey is still my favorite. ... Enjoy!

Honestly, I don't care for cooking whole birds.  I would prefer to prepare a turkey or chicken breast, but there are those special occasions that you may want to prepare the whole bird; Thanksgiving, New Years or a chilly Wednesday.

Seriously though, I spent every Thanksgiving at my parents house until I moved to Arizona.  Since then, Chad and I have spent every Thanksgiving at his parents house.

So, luckily I am not usually the one to prepare the bird. But I wanted to learn how just in case Chad's mom decided to fly to Hawaii or something.

I didn't want to be practicing my first whole bird ever on Thanksgiving day.  Talk about added pressure. Well, even if you have the added pressure of preparing your first turkey this Thanksgiving, this recipe will ease the stress.

I can't help but think of my Mom when I think of that first turkey. My grandma moved out of state when I was about 7.

Like me, my mom had never hosted Thanksgiving. She was preparing the turkey and didn't know all the tricks.

She had managed to remove the innards and wash the bird, but when she was stuffing the turkey she starts hollering for my dad.

My dad, the hero, rushes to the kitchen and my mom is standing there with a turkey hanging off the end of her arm.

She never realized that you can remove the metal closure on the legs. LOL So my dad busts up laughing and then takes a picture. Happy Thanksgiving Mommy. (We miss you!) I so need to find that photo.

I have had some less than spectacular turkey in my life, so my number one goal was to make this turkey moist and flavorful. I loaded it with an herb butter mixture made from my favorite herbs.

You start by separating the skin from the turkey and rubbing the herb butter over the meat and on top of skin. Pour water in pan and cover.  You don't even have to baste the turkey, but you can if you want to. Truly the best turkey I have ever eaten and the perfect Thanksgiving dinner!

With love from our Thanksgiving table to yours!  XO

Helpful Tips to make Best Ever Herb Roasted Turkey:

  • Run a checklist in your head BEFORE you put the turkey in the oven.  Make sure you have added the water, smothered the turkey in the butter mixture and tucked the wings.  Now, if you happen to forget to tuck the wings...  Like I did.  You can use tongs to do this after it is in the oven, but be warned your turkey is less cooperative once it has started baking. (imagine that).  It took me and Chad and a lot of patience to get those slippery partially cooked wings tucked.  Not to mention they poked through my aluminum foil.

    Simple Herb Roasted Turkey

Our Herb Roasted Turkey is so moist and flavorful it is the only recipe you will ever need. Nothing beats this buttery herb infused flavor in your turkey. A simple recipe that you will use again and again. So easy there is no basting required!

    Ingredients

    • 1 (12-14 pound) whole, turkey (defrosted)
    • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
    • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
    • 1 tablespoon dried basil
    • 2 teaspoons ground sage
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 2 cups water

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
    2. Prepare your turkey by removing innards and washing inside and out in cold water.  Set turkey on rack in roasting pan.  Slide hand under skin to separate skin from meat.  Tuck wings under turkey.
    3. In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic, basil, rosemary, sage, salt and pepper with a fork.
    4. Using your hands coat turkey with your butter mixture.  Slide hands under skin to rub herb butter mixture over meat.  Rub mixture all over top, side and legs as well as under the skin.  Pour water into pan.
    5. Cover turkey with aluminum foil. Bake for 3 1/2 hours (basting occasionally if you prefer), or until temperature in the thickest part of the thigh reads 165° or more.  (Turkey will continue to cook once removed from the oven).  Remove the foil for the last hour to allow the turkey to brown completely.
    6. Serve and enjoy!

    DONNA'S NOTES

    1. Run a checklist in your head BEFORE you put the turkey in the oven.
