Frequently asked questions

How do you keep Alfredo sauce creamy?

One of the best things about this Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce is how creamy it is. If you are trying to replicate that at home, you will want to be sure that you use fresh Parmesan cheese.

Avoid using the powdered kind in the green cans. It won't melt as well and the recipe won't be as creamy as you remember it.

And, make sure that you don't overcook it.

Substitutes for heavy cream in Alfredo sauce

While heavy cream is one of the things that helps make this Alfredo sauce what it is, there are a few possible substitutions.

You can try using soy milk with a dash of olive oil if you want a vegan option. Or, use Greek yogurt and milk combined.

Evaporated milk or milk and butter is another option that might work for you. Half and half will also work in a pinch if you need to substitute.

Storing leftovers

If you have leftovers when you make my Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce, you should refrigerate them within two hours.

You can store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

is an easy way to make the creamy cheese sauce at home Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce Recipe + Video

Freezing the sauce

If you want to freeze this, it will stay good in an airtight container for up to six months.

When it's time to reheat the frozen sauce, make sure you stir it well to prevent it from separating and curdling.

Don't rush, it's best reheated over low heat.

Uses for Alfredo sauce

I've discussed a few ways you can use this Alfredo sauce already, but here's a quick summary.

  • Pasta sauce
  • Pizza topping
  • Soup base
  • Cream topping for steamed vegetables
  • Dip for bread sticks
  • Add it to mac and cheese
  • Chicken Florentine
  • A substitute for gravy in your pot pie recipe

Enjoy!

Copycat Olive Garden Salad Ingredients

Olive Garden Salad is so amazing you may eat the salad and skip the meal. Now you can make your own salad dressing copycat recipe at home.

A crisp salad with a tart, sweet, and cheesy dressing will keep you coming back for more!

This Olive Garden Salad has chopped romaine lettuce, red onion, Roma tomatoes, Pepperoncini peppers, pitted olives, and seasoned garlic croutons (try these homemade croutons).

I prefer the crisp of the romaine hearts over the American salad blend, so I used romaine in the salad.

And, of course, what makes it truly special is the Olive Garden salad dressing on top.

The salad dressing is fabulously tart and sweet with creamy Romano cheese throughout. It is absolutely amazing. You are going to love it!

Tools needed
  • Blender- You can use any blender, but I absolutely love this one! I use it for ice cream, smoothies, soups, my tomato sauce, and naturally this salad dressing.
  • Salad Bowl-
  • Salad Tongs - These bamboo salad hands are my favorite
  • Cheese grater - any will work but this is my go to

How to make Olive Garden Salad dressing?

Of course, this copycat Olive Garden salad wouldn't be complete without their signature dressing.
Thankfully, it's very simple to make at home.

You only need a few simple ingredients to make this including mayonnaise, oil, Romano cheese, and a few seasonings.

If you prefer dressing to be yellow in color (like the original) add pinches of turmeric until it reaches the desired shade (thanks to a reader for the tip).

I left it out in the above photo.

Be sure to let the salad dressing sit in the refrigerator for a few hours before you use it.

This extra time lets the flavors meld. You won't believe the difference it makes.

How do I store leftover dressing?

The dressing will make enough for about four bowls of salad. You can store the leftovers in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed Mason jar.

They will last for about a week. That way, you can enjoy another salad again soon. Or, why not use it to marinate your chicken breasts? They taste amazing that way.

Frequently asked questions

What type of olives are in the Olive Garden salad?

The traditional salad at Olive Garden contains whole black olives. Buy them pitted to save time when preparing the salad.

Of course, you can always add in another type of olive if you prefer. But, black olives are traditional.

Our Copycat Olive Garden Salad is like the restaurant version Copycat Olive Garden Salad and Dressing Recipe

How many calories are in Olive Garden salad dressing?

The traditional Olive Garden salad dressing contains 80 calories per one fluid ounce. But, if you use the reduced-fat version of their dressing, it contains only 30 calories.

Either way, watch how much you add to this copycat Olive Garden salad because the calories can add up quickly.

What type of cheese do you use in Olive Garden salad?

I use Romano cheese when I make this recipe. But, I have heard from some people that they like to use Parmesan as well.

Please do not buy the powdered mixed cheese in the Italian section of your grocery store. Start with fresh Romano and grate it yourself using a handheld cheese grater.

It's an absolute must and really changes the flavor of the salad.

What should I serve with this salad?

My Instant Pot Zuppa Toscana is a delicious soup to serve along with this copycat salad recipe.

Or, why not enjoy it with a few thick slices of my simple Amish white bread recipe. My no-knead roasted garlic skillet bread would be another delicious option.

Enjoy!

Use our recipe for cooking chicken thighs on any type of smoker Smoked Chicken Thighs + Video
Are you enjoying your smoker as much as I am? There are just so many different things that you can make in a smoker.

I'll be sharing a few of my favorites with you to try.

Have you had a chance to try my other smoker recipes?

Smoked baked potato is so delicious! This recipe is a must-make; you'll love the flavor of smoked potatoes!

Or, make some smoked baked beans! These tender beans with bacon are the perfect side dish!

Tips for Making Smoked Chicken Thighs

This recipe is one of the simplest ways to make smoked chicken thighs at home.

And, it uses one of my favorite homemade rubs, containing New Mexico chili powder and smoked paprika.

One of the reasons I use thigh meat is because it is such an inexpensive cut.

If you are feeding a crowd, or you're watching your grocery budget, cooking chicken thighs in the smoker is a great choice.

It's important to prep the meat before smoking it. You will need to trim the excess skin and fat around the edges first.

When preparing the thighs, make sure that you rub the spices into both the top and the bottom of the piece of meat.

Work a little bit underneath the skin if you can as well.

And, always let the meat rest for five minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute as it cools so that your chicken will be moist and juicy.

How long to smoke chicken thighs

The smoking time depends on the size and the type of smoker you're using. It's really best to smoke the thighs based on the internal temperature reading using a meat thermometer.

This recipe calls for a temperature of 275F. At that temperature, you will need to cook them for about one hour and 35 minutes.

This is the time and temperature if you are using bone-in chicken thighs.

If you are cooking boneless chicken thighs, you will need to cook them for slightly less time.

To smoke boneless chicken thighs, preheat your smoker to 225F and cook them for about 55 minutes.

Remember, they are done when your meat thermometer shows an internal temperature of 165°F.

Don't rely on just the time to determine when your meat is cooked.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best type of BBQ sauce to use?

One of the last steps in this recipe is to brush the meat with BBQ sauce. I love the taste of my KC Style Barbecue Sauce, but you can use your own homemade version.

Or, you can use a bottled BBQ sauce if you are pressed for time.

How to prevent dry rub from burning on the chicken

One of the challenges of cooking with a dry rub in the smoker is preventing it from burning.

When you make this recipe, you will brush BBQ sauce onto the chicken during the last 10 minutes of the cooking time. This will help prevent the sauce from burning.

But, it will still allow the delicious rub to flavor the thighs during the smoking process.

Can I make a double batch?

Yes, you can double this recipe. I love making a big batch because there are so many different ways to use it during the week.

You can easily use the leftovers to make BBQ chicken salad, toss it on to homemade pizza, or use it in your favorite pasta recipe.

Use our recipe for cooking chicken thighs on any type of smoker Smoked Chicken Thighs + Video

What should I serve with smoked chicken thighs?

There are many different types of summer side dishes you can serve with the meal, but here are a few of my favorites.

Or, you can always just serve a side garden salad or sliced fresh vegetables from the garden.

Enjoy!

If you want more Texas Roadhouse recipes, try my Texas Roadhouse Rolls recipe next. It is one of the most sought out copycat recipes.

Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon Butter recipe notes

You can use this simple cinnamon butter recipe for many different things.

I've been making this copycat recipe for quite a while now and I’m always finding new ways to use it.

Spread it on English muffins, bagels, muffins, quick bread, toast, and rolls.

If you're looking for a few more ideas, try it on this cinnamon swirl French toast or on your favorite pancake recipe.

Or, add some to mashed sweet potatoes. You won't believe how good it tastes that way.

This recipe uses both powdered sugar and honey. If you want to, you can use a bit less powdered sugar and a bit more honey.

I think the combination I use gives a perfect consistency. But, you can experiment until you have the taste you like best.

It's very important that you soften the butter first. If you don't, the ingredients won't blend properly.

Also, be sure to buy the highest quality cinnamon that you can afford. That will make a big difference in the taste of this recipe.

Does Texas Roadhouse use real butter or margarine?

According to sources that know, Texas Roadhouse uses half margarine and half butter in their cinnamon butter recipe.

I've used all real butter in this recipe because I like the taste best this way. But, if you want to keep it authentic, you can use half and half as well.

Tools needed

Frequently asked questions

Does homemade butter have to be refrigerated?

Yes, to prevent butter from turning rancid, you should store it in a refrigerator. This is especially true in warmer climates. It’s okay to leave it out for a couple of hours, though.

How can I store this recipe?

This cinnamon butter disappears in just a few days at my house. But, if you want to store it for longer, you certainly can.

It will keep at room temperature for a day, or in the refrigerator for 30 days. Or, you can freeze it for up to 6 months in a tightly covered container.

Make this recipe to enjoy the creamy spread at home Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon Butter Recipe + Video

What type of cinnamon should I use?

Any ground cinnamon should work well in this recipe. Saigon cinnamon has a peppery flavor, while Ceylon cinnamon is the traditional variety used in most recipes.

Should I use salted or unsalted butter?

Use salted butter in this recipe. If you use unsalted butter, be sure to add a dash of salt.

How can I make it spreadable?

If you keep it on the counter at room temperature, it should spread nicely when you need it.

However, after storing it in a refrigerator, you may need to allow it to come to room temperature again before it will spread.

Whatever you do, do not soften butter in a microwave. The ingredients will separate and it won't taste right.

Enjoy!

You can also season with garlic powder, garlic salt, red pepper flakes, etc.

The recipe can be doubled or tripled based on the size of your air fryer. You don’t want to overcrowd the air fryer or the air can not circulate around the cauliflower.

  2. Cut large pieces from the head. Then, you will cut around the cauliflower stem using a sharp knife.

However, don't allow the frozen vegetables to thaw first. You will have better results making air fried cauliflower with frozen vegetables.

Just place it in the fryer as you would if it wasn't frozen. The final results will be crispy and golden.

Can you cook cauliflower rice in an air fryer?
Yes, you can make air fried cauliflower rice. It's very easy to do and can be used as the base for your favorite fried rice or eaten as is.

All you need to do is to place the riced cauliflower in the air fryer and cook it for about 10 minutes at 370°F. Shake it after 5 minutes to be sure it's equally distributed.

Since riced cauliflower can be bigger or smaller depending on how you rice it, you will need to test it at this point to see if it's done. If it isn't, cook for an extra 2 to 5 minutes.

Remember to shake it and check after each 2-minute interval to check for doneness.

If you want to add other vegetables to your rice, be sure to cook them first since they will likely have a longer cooking time.
