How to Make Cherry Dump Cake
Making dump cakes couldn't be easier. The process is the same for almost every flavor. You simply grease your 9 x 13 baking dish liberally. Then, you add your pie filling. Use a rubber spatula to spread the filling all around the bottom of the baking dish.
Then, sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the top of the pie filling. Finally, drizzle melted butter over the entire thing and shake to distribute evenly.
Bake and enjoy the final result.

- I used the conventional cherry pie filling in this recipe. It tastes great, bakes well, and is perfect in this recipe.
- You can use more or less cherry filling, I like mine bursting with cherries so I used 2 cans of cherry pie filling.
- In addition, the cherry pie filling can be substituted with apple pie filling or peach pie filling.
- Similarly, you can use raspberry preserves, or even fresh cherries, blueberries, or blackberries.
- For toppings, I use vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. However, you can use your favorite flavored ice cream.
- You can make this cherry dump cake recipe in a Crock-Pot as well. Just follow the same process. Cook it on high for 2 hours or on low for 4 hours.
- Add a topping of brown sugar and chopped almonds to the top before baking for a delicious flavor variation. Or, try coconut and pecans. You can experiment with your favorite toppings.

Cherry Dump Cake
Cherry Dump Cake is very easy to make with few ingredients, ready in 50 minutes, and loaded with delicious cherry pie filling!

Ingredients
- (2) 21 ounce cans cherry pie filling
- 1 box yellow cake mix or white cake mix
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and 2 more tablespoons for greasing the baking dish
Toppings
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Maraschino Cherries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or spray it with nonstick baking spray.
- Add the cherry pie filling to the bottom of the baking dish, and using a rubber spatula, spread it evenly over the surface of the dish.
- Sprinkle the cake mix on top of the cherry filling, distribute evenly. Shake the pan, to make sure the cake mix is spread evenly.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, try to distribute it evenly. Shake the pan again.
- Bake the Cherry Dump Cake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Start checking on the cake after 40 minutes.
- Remove cake from oven and let it just slightly cool on a cooling rack.
- Scoop cake into bowls, top with vanilla ice cream and maraschino cherries. Serve warm.
